About this replay
A picture of how the day ran, drawn from the departure times we recorded at every station. We don't track trains by GPS, so where a train is between two stations is worked out, not seen.
- Between stations a train moves at one steady speed: the track distance over the time it took. No speeding up or slowing down.
- Time at a platform comes from AT's last estimate of the arrival, because AT drops the real one once the train is in. Stops can look a little long and the running between them a little quick.
- The map is drawn as close to scale as we could, with each line heading the right way, though we've taken a few liberties with its overall shape to keep it clear. Along the track it's one scale throughout, so a kilometre is the same length everywhere and the speed a train moves on screen matches how fast it really went.
- A faded train has times that disagree on that stretch. A striped one is a partial run: it skipped one or more of its stops, or stopped short of the end of its line (where its record ends early, it is drawn to there, then removed).
- Trains that never ran can't be drawn. They are counted as cancelled at the time they were due to leave, and listed under the map's figures.
