South City Line: train delays, cancellations and punctuality

How the trains on Auckland's South City Line (Pukekohe ↔ Newmarket · city loop via Grafton and Parnell) actually ran: how many left late, how many left early, how many were cancelled or stopped short, how long the gaps between them were and how long the trip really took. Measured at every station on the line, day after day.

How evenly trains were spaced, and how much extra waiting the uneven gaps added.

On busy lines nobody plans around the timetable. You just turn up, so the gap matters most.

Under half the planned gap counts as bunched, over one and a half times as a long wait. Excess wait is the extra time the average person spent on the platform because of it.

Two bunched trains can both be on time and still leave a 20 minute hole behind them. Excess wait catches that.
